Data Quality & Coding
Data Quality:
Achieving excellence in data quality is essential to the bottom line for health care organizations. Accurately coded data is only achieved when all of the pieces of the puzzle fit together perfectly. Quality data and accurate billing can only be achieved with accurate and thorough physician documentation, along with knowledgeable and skilled coding staff to review documentation and capture the correct codes.
Every health care organization’s data is subject to the scrutiny of both CMS and Commercial payers – not only for reimbursement purposes, but also for determining the quality and necessity of the care delivered. Taking a close look at your data on a regular basis is an excellent way to minimize your compliance risk and ensure proper reimbursement and quality ratings.
NJHA-HBS can help you achieve optimal data quality via:
- Comprehensive Inpatient and Outpatient Data Quality audits: Our process includes the review of problem prone / target claims, re-coding and review of cases by expert, credentialed Coding Consultants, and documentation of all discrepancies. All findings are presented in a comprehensive data report which shows DRG and coding variances, revenue impact, and opportunities for improvement by both coder and physician.
Data quality reviews can be conducted either pre-bill or on a retrospective basis.
Coding: HIM Coders are a valuable resource for health care organizations. If you have had difficulty recruiting qualified, credentialed coders, NJHA HBS can assist you. We are proud to offer the following coding support:
- Backlog coding - Improve your Discharge Not Final Bill (DNFB) with expert, credentialed coding support from NJHA HBS.
- On-site coding mentoring – Transform your employees from novice to expert coders with NJHA HBS’ on- site coding mentoring program.
