Laws & Regulations: New Jersey and United States The New Jersey Hospital Association's library offers a Web-based publication providing links and tips for legislative and regulatory research. It is extensive and comprehensive with an easy-to-use chart of links to web sites for state and federal resources for bills, laws and regulations.
New Jersey Legislature This site allows you to view the text of NJ bills, New Jersey statutes (laws), the New Jersey Constitution, the legislative calendar and the legislative digest. It provides access to downloading bills in several formats including Adobe Acrobat, Envoy and HTML. Searching features allow you to search the text of laws and the ability to search bills by number, sponsor, subject, or keyword.
THOMAS: Legislative Information on the Internet This is a service of the U.S. Congress through the Library of Congress. It provides congressional bills in summary or full text, the Congressional Record with a searchable index, information on the legislative process, how laws are made, and links the House of Representatives, U.S. Senate, Government Printing Office, General Accounting Office, and LOCIS, the Library of Congress Information System.
Top of PageEducational Resources - New JerseyCenter for Analysis of Public Issues Founded in 1970, the Center is an independent, nonpartisan public policy institute dedicated to expanding public awareness, offering analysis and solutions to issues facing New Jersey. Called CAPI, it is also known for its journal, New Jersey Reporter, often called the "institutional memory" of the state.
Center for Voting and Democracy A non-profit organization dedicated to fair elections. It conducts research, analysis, education and advocacy to build understanding and support of more democratic voting. It offers articles, an electronic newsletter, links and numerous resources.
Eagleton Institute of Politics The Institute, from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, offers newsletters, fact sheets, books and press releases as well as information on public events and its programs. It offers information for its two research centers: Center for American Women and Politics and Center for Public Interest Polling. It is home to New Jersey Civic Education Consortium Eagleton New Jersey Project.
The League of Women Voters of New Jersey A nonprofit, nonpartisan organization promoting political responsibility through informed and active participation in government. Has a "what's new" area, guides to government, links and a wealth of information about voting and a toll-free information line.
New Jersey Policy Perspective Founded in 1997, as a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization with a mission of ensuring that a progressive voice is part of the New Jersey debate. It analyzes, challenges and proposes policy alternatives to a variety of New Jersey issues. Its' Advisory Board is from a broad spectrum of opinion leaders within the state.
New Jersey Public Interest Research Group Citizen Lobby (NJPIRG) Acts as a watchdog for the public interest for New Jersey. Each state has a PIRG that is independent and locally based. See also: State PIRGS http://www.pirg.org/ and the U.S. PIRGonline http://www.uspirg.org/
New Jersey State League of Municipalities "The New Jersey State League of Municipalities is a voluntary association created to help communities do a better job of self-government through pooling information resources and brain power. It is authorized by state statute and since 1915, has been serving more than 560 municipalities, their mayors and elected and appointed officials. Its Web site offers extensive information including its journal, codes, laws contracts and seminars.
PoliticsNJ.com: New Jersey's Online Political Network A New Jersey focused site that is operated by The Publius Group and Wally Edge, its editor and a pseudonym for Web site staff. It covers New Jersey's political scene incliding insider political news that does not make it to traditional print sources. Note, some of the content is not free from bias. Nevertheless it is a unique resource for the state. It also offers fee-based subscriber services: PoliticsNJFax, Duck Walk and The Inside Edge.
Top of PageEducational Resources - United StatesElectronic Policy Network (EPN) Founded in 1995 by prize-winning author Paul Staff and The American Prospect magazine, this web site is a consortium of top public policy organizations and advocacy groups, many with a liberal perspective. If covers health care as well as other policy issues and seeks to education and share intelligible debate with citizens, legislators and advocacy groups. It showcases interviews, FAQs, a Web 'pick of the week' and events.
Politics1.com A nonpartisan public service web site published by L4M, unaffiliated with any political party, campaign or candidate. It promotes fully informed decision making and also offers the free newsletter, The Politics1 Report, via email.
Roll Call Perhaps the leading source for Congressional news and information inside Washington, D.C. and beyond. It offers leading stories from its newspaper, Roll Call, posting 'top' stories in 'News and Commentary' every Monday and Thursday and opinions and editorials, twice-weekly in 'Opinion.' About twice a month it provides for debate within the policy community with its Policy Briefings. Each September it evaluates the previous legislative session, and don't miss the political cartoons.
Stateline.org Founded to help policy makers, journalists and the public more informed about innovative public policies at the state level, this site is run by the Pew Center on the States, a research organization administered by the University of Richmond and funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts. With a view towards each state, it covers critical issues in each capital and focuses on healthcare, welfare, land use, taxes/budget, education and campaign finance. It is an invaluable source of news and background information on each state's legislative and policy developments and it includes, for example, the full text of each of the governors' state of the state addresses.
SpeakOut.comSM The mission of this Web site is to make activism as easy as possible. It has an advisory board of stakeholders from government, business and nonprofit organizations. It offers 'activism centers' by topic and includes an area specifically for 'health care.'

This site also offers breaking and daily news and analyses for the U.S. and the world, as well for health, the earth, showbiz, science and technology, style, travel, weather and sports. Offers a chat room and bulletin boards to post your messages, CNN transcripts, Time articles, audio and video files.
The Gallup Organization The Gallup site provides information on the latest polls, the Presidential elections, monthly newsletter, and a searching feature. It also offers the opportunity to take a Gallup Poll.
National Election Studies Known as the NES, it offers survey results from 23 biennial election studies spanning 5 decades. Conducts national surveys of the American electorate in Presidential and mid-term election years, and carries out research and development work through pilot studies in odd-numbered years. The mission of the National Election Studies (NES) is to produce high quality data on voting, public opinion, and political participation that serve the research needs of social scientists, teachers, students, and policy makers concerned with understanding the theoretical and empirical foundations of mass politics in a democratic society.

They are affiliated with 12 major New Jersey newspapers including The Star-Ledger, The Times, The Jersey Journal, The Express-Times, Gloucester County Times, Bridgeton News, Today's Sunbeam, Hunterdon County Democrat, The Warren Reporter, The Reporter (Somerset), Independent Press and Suburban News.

Town Hall Live Chat A site for conservatives that requires downloading of free "ichat Internet Plug-in" if unavailable via your web browser. This is a real-time discussion that allows you to communicate with all users present in the chat room. However, you must enter an "auditorium" to observe and participate in the scheduled-moderated chats with special guests. You will be able to see the discussion and are encouraged to pose questions.
Town Hall Blog A site for conservatives that offers message postings and responses by topics of the user's choice. It does not need any special Internet software or plug-in to access. It does require a simple registration process that retains anonymity if desired. Also offers a searchable archive of older messages.
