New Jersey Hospitals: Imagine a Day Without UsInadequate funding and other pressures have forced 23 N.J. hospitals to close since 1992. Five others have filed for bankruptcy. Of the 75 acute care hospitals that remain, half lost money last year. Learn more about the crisis and how you can help save New Jersey's hospitals.
NJHA serves as an advocate for acute care, specialty and government hospitals, as well as post acute providers, representing their concerns and interests to elected officials both on the state and federal level.
NJHA's staff includes a Legislative & Legal Affairs team that serves as an information liaison between the state's hospitals and their representatives in Trenton and Washington, D.C. Legislative Affairs staff present NJHA policy to key decision makers, committee staff and executive leaders through meetings and discussions, as well as through testimony at hearings. Member hospitals are often called on to assist in NJHA advocacy efforts. This influential united voice is necessary to achieve laws and regulations that are in the best interest of our healthcare institutions and the patients they serve.
